WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

At SOAR, we take pride in the success of our former interns and employees. Below are updates on their current roles, achievements, and how their time with us has shaped their careers. Discover their continued impact as we introduce each one.

  • Andrea Medina, B.S., worked at SOAR from January 2020 until March 2024, starting as an intern with Dr. Martinez and later continuing as her administrative assistant.

    Andrea is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Child Development.

    During her time at SOAR, Andrea was integral in communicating with and scheduling new patients, administering and scoring regular assessments of patient progress, writing content for the SOAR website, and managing various other administrative tasks.

    Andrea transitioned from psychology to business, leveraging her expertise in organization and communication to enhance operations and foster a positive workplace culture. In the future, she hopes to expand her impact through community outreach, creating spaces where individuals feel empowered and equipped to succeed.

  • Carolina Barrett, B.S., worked at SOAR from January 2023 until July 2024, beginning as an intern and later transitioning to the role of office manager.

    Carolina is a dedicated advocate for mental health and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Health with a focus on Social and Behavioral Sciences at Temple University in Philadelphia.

    During her time at SOAR, she honed her skills in patient care, advocated for insurance benefits, and presented at the International OCD Foundation online conference alongside three SOAR colleagues. Her experiences at SOAR deeply inspired her commitment to addressing health disparities.

    With a passion for improving mental health equity, Carolina's future goal is to increase access to mental health resources in underserved communities, reduce disparities, and ensure equitable care for those who need it most.

  • Malika Kumar, M.S., is a UX/UI Designer at First Orion. She previously worked at SOAR as a Digital Marketing Intern from March 2024 to January 2025.

    She holds a Master’s degree in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas. At SOAR, Malika contributed to a website redesign and created social media content focused on mental health awareness. Reflecting on her experience, Malika shares, “I loved working with the SOAR team—everyone was so kind and supportive. I learned so much during my time there, and it truly helped shape the next step in my career.”

    Malika is passionate about designing intuitive, human-centered digital experiences that reflect her background in psychology. In her free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts and spending time with friends and family.

Digital Marketing Intern

  • Ai-Phuong (Anna) Nguyen was an Administrative Intern at SOAR in the academic year 2025-26 during her time as an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Dallas. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics and AI and a concentration in Finance and Risk Analytics.

    Despite being primarily business oriented, Anna has a passion for medical research in obstetrics and gynecology. She loves the process of scientific investigation to help find medical solutions for families, and believes heavily in the connection between mental and reproductive health. Following her business degree and working in corporate, she hopes to go back to medical school and study to become a gynecologist.

  • Raina Tewari was an Administrative Intern at SOAR in the academic year 2025-26. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Global Business from the University of Texas at Dallas.

    Raina is an enthusiastic mental health advocate who seeks to promote awareness and acceptance of conditions such as OCD and anxiety by connecting professionals who share the same passion.
